A Mouth Opening Effect Based on Pole Modification for Expressive Singing Voice Transformation
نویسندگان
چکیده
Improving expressiveness in singing voice synthesis systems requires to perform realistic timbre transformations, e.g. for varying voice intensity. In order to sing louder, singers tend to open their mouth more widely, which changes the vocal tract’s shape and resonances. This study shows, by means of signal analysis and simulations, that the main effect of mouth opening is an increase of the 1 formant’s frequency (F1) and a decrease of its bandwidth (BW1). From these observations, we then propose a rule for producing a mouth opening effect, by modifying F1 and BW1, and an approach to apply this effect on real voice sounds. This approach is based on pole modification, by changing the AR coefficients of an estimated all-pole model of the spectral envelope. Finally, listening tests have been conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed effect.

Singer Identification and Transformation through Dynamic Modeling of Vocal Fold and Vocal Tract Parameters
Oftentimes when we listen to a familiar singer, the unique qualities of that performer’s voice allow us to establish the singer’s identity with relative ease. It is believed that the unique acoustic qualities of an individual singer’s voice arise from a combination of innate physical factors (e.g. vocal tract and vocal fold physiology) and individual characteristics of performance and expressio...

The core concern of this paper is the modelling and the tractability of expressiveness in natural voice synthesis. In the first part we quickly discuss the imponderable gap between natural and singing voice synthesis approaches. In the second part we outline a four level model and a corpus-based methodology in modelling expressive forms—an essential step towards expressive voice synthesis. We t...
متن کاملReal-time pitch modification system for speech and singing voice
A real-time pitch modification system has been developed. The implemented processing scheme is based on hybrid deterministic/stochastic decomposition of the signal and includes extraction of instantaneous pitch, pitch-synchronous time-frequency analysis, parametrical morphing and synthesis. The scheme provides high quality output with considerably high naturalness. The aim of the presentation i...
متن کاملSinging Voice Analysis/Synthesis
The singing voice is the oldest and most variable of musical instruments. By combining music, lyrics, and expression, the voice is able to affect us in ways that no other instrument can. As listeners, we are innately drawn to the sound of the human voice, and when present it is almost always the focal point of a musical piece. But the acoustic flexibility of the voice in intimating words, shapi...

This paper presents preliminary results on expressive performance in the human tenor voice. This work investigates how professional opera singers manipulate sound properties such as timing, amplitude, and pitch in order to produce expressive performances. We also consider the contribution of features of prosody in the artistic delivery of an operatic aria. Our approach is based on applying mach...
